Paseo de los Escritores (Writers Walkway)

 

History

This is a cultural space that honors five writers from Guayaquil: Enrique Gil Gilbert, Jose de La Cuadra, Demetrio Aguilera Malta, Alfredo Pareja Diezcanseco, and Joaquin Gallegos Lara, who marked an era, as novelists, traditionalists, who narrated the epics from the people of the Coast.

 

Attractions

Surrounded by the natural environment, there is the monument “Cinco como un puño” (five as a fist), which pays tribute to the five writers of the Group of Guayaquil formed by Enrique Gil Gilbert, Jose de la Cuadra, Demetrio Aguilera Malta, Alfredo Pareja Diezcanseco and Joaquin Gallegos Lara.

Besides the monument, every writer has a vast column made of crystal, which relates each biography, their works, and also highlight fragments from some of their novels, allowing the visitor to know the kind of literary figures they were and to read some of their famous phrases.
