Located 5 km from the city’s Downtown, it is considered one of the best airports of
Latin America and the Caribbean. It is also the largest in the country with a capacity for 7.5 million passengers per year. It offers international and domestic flights to the main tourist destinations of Ecuador.
Features 60,000 square meters, and the arrivals hall is located at the ground floor where restaurants, cafes and sweet and handicrafts of Ecuador stores operate. Upstairs is the departures area with 56 check-in counters, commercial spaces, VIP lounges for domestic and international flights, Duty Free and ATMs. It also has 1,100 parking spaces.
In 2013, the Jose Joaquin de Olmedo Airport was chosen by Airports Council International as the best in its category. In 2014 a work of extension was made and currently has 10 boarding bridges.
